History of Tuckahoe Kiwanis 


Tuckahoe Kiwanis was chartered November 29, 1979 and sponsored by the Kiwanis club of Western Henrico. Over the years the club has produced a District Governor, two Lieutenant Governors, and a Key Club Administrator for the Capital District Kiwanis. Tuckahoe Kiwanis has donated tens of thousands of dollars and thousands of service hours to local causes. Currently the club sponsors two Key Clubs at Deep Run and Godwin High schools involving over 500 students, and counts annual peanut sales, a charity golf tournament, and oyster and shrimp feasts among their major events.

From 1994-2002 Kiwanis's a Worldwide Service Project combated iodine deficiencies in developing countries and is now considered on of the must successful public health campaigns of the 20th century. Today Kiwanis has a new worldwide service project to ELIMINATE maternal and neonatal tetanus by raising $110 million to save the lives of 129 million mothers through simple vaccinations.

  • To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill.
